All of us experienced the anxiousness of waiting for a response when we send an email to someone.
We all wonder! Did the recipient receive the email? Did they open it? Did they read it? Did they click on the link?
But now having no idea what happened after we sent an email is a thing of the past. Now you can easily enable email tracking on your WordPress website with the help of WP Mail SMTP.
You will be able to track email campaigns in real-time and understand who from your customers are most interested in your emails, or what part of the email they like more.
What is Email Tracking?
Email tracking is a sophisticated way of monitoring if a recipient has opened an email that you’ve sent and had they taken the desired action!
This allows you to make better, more informed business decisions. Get real-time insights on who reads your emails and who’s ignoring them.
Email tracking empowers business owners to build and maintain relationships in this exceedingly crowded, competitive inbox environment.
How Does Email Tracking Work in WP Mail SMTP?
Email trackers automatically add a 1×1 image pixel to the content of the email you send. Once a recipient opens it, this link points back to a WP REST API endpoint on your WordPress site.
It means WordPress will receive a signal when the email is opened by the recipient. That’s what updates the open tracking data.
It can detect the exact time and date an email has been opened by a recipient and notifies you when an email you sent has been opened.
Mail SMTP replaces your website links with a unique trackable URL to track if any link is clicked, WP automatically.

WP Mail SMTP supports 2 different types of tracking for your sent emails:
- Open and click tracking tells you if your emails are being opened and the links are being clicked. (works with all mailers in WP Mail SMTP Pro)
- Delivery status tracking tells you if the email was successfully sent. In addition, SMTP.com, Sendinblue, and Mailgun also tell you if it was Delivered.
Therefore for the best possible visibility, choose between SMTP.com, Sendinblue, or Mailgun.
Because If you go with a different mailer (like Gmail or Other SMTP), you’ll just miss out on being able to see if emails were Delivered.
Now complete the connection to your chosen SMTP server or API.
Alright! After completing the Wizard, we will enable WordPress Email Tracking.
