The Big Picture Review Of SiteGround
Siteground has set the new standard when it comes to web hosting features, performance, speed and customer support.
They have delivered some uninterrupted uptime for a few years now. Their site speed is pretty good, too, because their servers spread out over three continents and free Cloudflare CDN account.
Also, the best thing is they give you free SSL on all plans, which is a huge plus point.
Pricing is reasonable if you go for the most extended term possible (24months or 36 months plan is recommended). Otherwise, you’ll end up hitting those high renewal rates after your plan expires in a year.
My Rating – (4.5 stars)
If their renewal rates would be a bit cheaper I would give them 5 out of 5 ratings.
I have realized that this is one of the most comprehensive SiteGround reviews on the internet. And, If you’d instead not read it all, the gist of the review is – yes, I do recommend SiteGround for most people. If you decide to sign up, I want to let you know that they don’t offer any discount coupons, but you can click on the link below to ensure that you get the lowest possible prices based on their ongoing discounts.
Comparison of SiteGround prices with Bluehost and Hostgator
Currently, both Bluehost and Siteground, charge $3.95 for the basic plan. On the basic plan of all three hostings, you can host only one website. While Hostgator’s hatchling plan starts with $2.75/mo.
So, as you can see, except Hostgator, Bluehost & Siteground have almost the same prices for all their plans. But here’s the catch, when you review the prices Siteground, Bluehost and HostGator you’ll realize that:
Until you are ready to make the payment, they (Bluehost & HostGator) do not disclose that discounted pricing is only applicable when you buy their hosting for 24 months or more.
While on Siteground, what you’ll see is what you’ll get. They don’t trick you in buying for long term with regulated pricing
Pricing is the same on Siteground $3.95/month for basic plan whether you purchase for 12 months, 24 months, or 36 months.
Issue with Bluehost, Hostgator, GoDaddy: EIG Companies
You’ll be surprised to know that brands like Bluehost, Hostgator, iPage, Site5, Hostmonstare and tons of other hosting companies (given below) are owned by EIG (Endurance International Group)
Now, what’s the problem with EIG companies?
Well, EIG is notorious for buying hosting companies and lowering their standards by stuffing more and more customers on a single server.
They spend big on marketing, rather than on customer retention. This completely ruins the customer experience. All of these points make any EIG-owned host a lousy choice for anyone.
SiteGround, despite being a well-known brand in hosting space, is not under EIC. This is a testament to their quality of providing reliable service while being independently owned.

After changing my hosting to Siteground, my website speed increased by a more than 120%
It’s important to note here that, since 2018 update, Google considers mobile page speed as a ranking factor in its mobile search results.
Some key features include:
Uptime is one of the most significant factors one needs to take into consideration while choosing web hosting.
Because if the website is down, other things won’t matter. Most top web hosting companies claim to have an uptime of 99.90%.
While SiteGround guarantees an extraordinary average uptime of 99.98%. And, if you ever experience over 0.1% downtime yearly, they will compensate you. This shows how confident they are on their performance.
Siteground has data centers in Singapore, Amsterdam, USA, and the United Kingdom.
Free SSL Certificate
Google, in the past, has taken a strict stance to protect the privacy of its consumers. Security has always been a top priority in the eyes of Google.
So, to implement an advanced secure connection for users, in 2014, Google announced HTTPS as a ranking signal.
SiteGround offers a free SSL certificate via LetsEncrypt with its all hosting plans. The SSL certificate can be enabled through the c-panel.
In case you didn’t know, an SSL certificate can cost you an additional $69/year if you buy from a hosting that doesn’t provide free SSL.
PHP 7.3 support
WordPress uses a PHP/MySQL platform. This makes it easier for a user to create a website and publish his content without knowing how to program those pages.
A user can easily upgrade his website’s PHP version to PHP 7.3. With the help of the SG optimizer plugin, which you get with ready-made installed Siteground hosting.
As you may know, PHP 7.3 is the latest version of PHP. Other hosting companies are still on PHP 5.6.
The performance of the website can be enhanced or even can be doubled with PHP 7.3.
Support and Customer Service
Almost all hosting companies claim they have the best customer support, but SiteGround is actually one of the hosting companies that are appreciated by website owners for its customer support.
Most people change their hosting providers, mainly due to a lack of satisfactory customer support.
There are times when people have to wait for nearly 8-9 hours to get a response to their ticket, and sometimes almost 24-48 hours to get their issues resolved.
Unlike their peers, say EIG-owned hosting companies, their customer support is actually pretty responsive and genuinely helpful.
They offer 24×7 live chat support, 24×7 phone support as well as standard email/ticket support. So, there are a lot of support avenues for people to choose their preferred medium.
SSD hard drive:
Under Siteground shared hosting plan, the files and databases are stored on revolutionary Solid State Drive technology rather than regular old HDD hard drives.
SSD hard drives provide for a 1000x increase in input/output operations as compared to HDD drives.
NGINX server speed
This technology helps to increase the page loading speed of the website hosted on Siteground. “Engine X.” is the correct pronunciation of NGINX.
NGINX is a web server, and after Apache, it is the most web server widely used web server. If you are interested in knowing how NGINX works READ – Maximizing PHP 7 Performance with NGINX
SuperCacher – Best speed for WordPress, Joomla & Drupal
SG optimizer plugin – SiteGround offers Supercacher, a technology developed by its in-house team.
They have also built our own caching mechanism based on NGINX reverse proxy. The SuperCacher speeds up dramatically the serving of the dynamic content of the sites too.
The Siteground SuperCacher also allows website speed optimization through Memcached. This feature is unique to Siteground.
Free Cloudflare CDN
Siteground’s free Cloudflare CDN makes your website load faster in anywhere in the world with the help of its daily caching and multiple data centers.
When people from different parts of the world try to access your website, Cloudflare CDN delivers the content much faster with the help of the data center closest to them.
HTTP/2 enabled servers
HTTP/2, a major update of the HTTP network protocol used by the WWW, is the newest network protocol, which significantly increases the website loading speed.
To experience the power of HTTP/2’s high protocol, Siteground provides free SSL Certificates with all their plans as HTTP/2 won’t work without an encrypted connection
